Kenzo FW16 print films
By Thomas Traum

A tribute to the japanese subcultures of the past and present.

For the FW16 season, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon paid homage to Japan and KENZO’s founder Kenzo Takada.

Influenced by Japanese countercultures dear to Takada, these prints inspired us to explore the collection through a unique storyline. Through the eye of our heroine we get lost in Tokyo’s back alleys lit by blinking neons, finding ourselves in a huge superclub, sneaking down into a shibari room, falling into a sea of cherry blossoms, then walking into the sunset ❀ with an urban Amazon tribe.

After the success of our film for last season, we wanted to have even more of a narrative continuously flowing through all the patterns. Each pattern is treated as a world that the character passes through forming a hyper-coloured trip of this season’s KENZO prints.
