The Ones Who Keep Walking Documentary —
By Amarachi Nwosu
An African creative renaissance has been taking place for years and it’s now long overdue it gets a solid space and a name across the Globe. The multiplicity of cultures and the amount of artists and creatives practicing across all the countries of the continent make it an enormous creative influence to the World. So what those it means to take back the narrative? Although this film only scratches the surface within 45mn - and hopefully many more projects documenting each countries and their creative scenes will pop up in a near future – it was an effort of 20+ contributors and a team of 200+ people from 10 different countries to draw that first strong statement and to offer a one-of-its-kind in-depth look within fashion, photography, art, music and more.
I feel like for a long time as Africans we’ve been under the rug with the influence that we’ve given the world. Now is a time when we’re saying, ‘No, we want to be seen. We want to be heard. And we want the world to know that we’ve connected everybody and everything did come from here. _Sampa the Great.
Commissioned by Johnnie Walker.
Shot in Johannesburg, Nairobi, Lagos, Abidjan, Accra, Adukrom, Kampala, Addis Ababa, Maputo, London, Amsterdam.
